    Dear Sunil,
Gearless scooter means CVT, a continuously variable transmission. In which gears are based on belt. For this you don’t need physical gear shifter and so the clutch. The vehicle gets controlled by the throttle and so by the both brakes.
Besides I would like to know which CVT scooter you have.
But for your knowledge let me share some tips with you.
CVT vehicles require less maintenance. But they are very hard for workmanship due to its body shell. In the bikes you can access any part from any side.
In maintenance you need to check your battery pack at least twice in a month for levels. Because rider mostly depends on STARTER. The most important is you should use kick often otherwise sometimes it becomes jam due to lack of use and then at the time of emergency you can’t start the vehicle. Over speeding is very much bad for CVT vehicles because they are belt driven. If you use it rough way then the life of belt and CVT pulleys will become less and so other related spares too.

In the bike you have 2 direct brakes and one indirect brake (ENGINE CONTROL BY GEARS) for stopping the vehicle but in scooter which are CVT has got two physical brakes. So always keep you brakes in condition. In those scooters loss of transmission is higher than any geared vehicle.
So I don’t think the average will be always constant and high.

One more thing, don’t forget that all the CVT vehicles has got two oil passages so always change both of them….One is for engine and another is for secondary transmission box.

    Dear Ravi,
All things are depending on you budget. Also try to take test ride of SUZUKI GS150 though H.Honda is proven, but right now I feel the quality must be good from Suzuki in front of Bajaj or H.Honda..Talking about average, so right now mostly all the bikes are in the range of 50 to 60 in 100cc to 200cc categories. But generally average is depending on many factors such as riding style, usage pattern, single hand or multi hand, fuel type and filling stations, maintenance schedule, road conditions, tire condition and pressure. So try Suzuki and share your experience here

    Dear Vikas,
Both are equivalent but I guess CBZ would be bit powerful than FZ

    Dear Anshul,
R15 is one of the best but bad for Indian roads and city riding. ECU vehicles always hard to repair on roads because some problems can be detected only by FIDT(Fuel Injection Diagnostic Tool) if they are related to sensors.
And you might feel backache problem due its handle position which is very much different than any other bike. You need to have habit of that.
Thank god they have not launched YAMAHA R125R yet in India.
    Anyways…..
Karizma is a good vehicle, No ECU so no maintenance problem, even on roads anyone can repair it.
Pulsar 220 is ok but if you want to remap the ECU for power purpose then hard to find so same like R15. But soon or later you will be able to remap R15 ECU for high performance.
TB from Royal Enfield, ummmm well bike is macho no wonder but it is still depending on battery. And still some quality and technology issues. But yes power and handling is good. And you can go to any terrain, other bikes can’t withstand some times. Rear brakes are always bad. And maintenance is bit higher side. If you are going to ride on highways all the time then you need the vehicle which is suitable for all riding conditions like stability and sturdiness..

So I hope I have shared good info with you guys….

    Dear Anshul,
TB is good in some points but not all.
    1. Still maintenance prone motorcycle.
    2. Still depending on BATTERY.
    3. Rough mechanics, so bad servicing treatment.
    4. Battery is still not available in the market from EXIDE.
    5. Handling is good.
    6. The thump, you might have some problem with it.
    7. Some of the spares are very much costly. (e.g. Foot rest)
    8. Some of the spares you can get from BAJAJ showroom (e.g. Foot Rest).
    9. Some of the spares are not available from company.
    10. Sometimes for one small spare you might have to buy full assembly which can rip your pocket. (For e.g. Front Disc Brake LEVER)
    11. Power is great.
    12. Old problem sorted out new problems started.
    13. You will have to train your self for repairing purpose.
    14. All the time you will have to keep spare in stock and always with you.
For example: – Spark Plugs, Clutch Cables, Accelerator Cable.
    15. When bike gets puncture our local puncture fellow doesn’t understand how to remove and refit the tire.
    16. You need standby vehicle when you have RE product.

Powerfull machine in its class. But if you wait for some more time then the company might introduce EFI which may be good. Soon or later all the manufacture will start ECU models. But ECU models are bit complicated till it become mature enough in the market once everyone understand then it is maintenance free, otherwise all mess. Because to understand the ECU person should be educated.

I am sorry, I can’t judge about your vehicle for sell.

    Dear Deepak,

My profession is sales. So i travel around 60-80 Km a day in city. I am looking for a new bike. I am looking for some thing with less maintenance and good performance. I have shortlisted 3 vehicles. Bajaj Pulsar 180, TVS Apache 160, Yamaha FZ 150. Please suggest me which among these bikes are good in performance and less maintenance. Or please suggest me any other good vehicle in this segment.

  11. Deepak on June 26, 2009 at 8:39 am

I would suggest you to go with Honda Unicorn. It is smooth and will keep you comfortable during your journey. Also test GS150R and see if it suits you.

Thanx a lot Chinmay. But m going in only for one bike.so shall i pic Thunderbird only or should i wait for some new bikes in market?do u think thr r sm new launches awaited?not the light engines..jst above 200cc

  13. Chinmay Dangre on June 26, 2009 at 6:46 pm

I know you are going for only one vehicle but when you buy ThunderBird you might have to buy another one which will be your stand by vehicle. And I don’t think so it’s a good affair. Well as your demands for above 200cc then you know the market very well. No one has good machine yet. But if we talk about 150cc then I tested GS150 from SUZUKI. Bike has got Butter gear shifting. looks are normal nothing so great and nothing great techy thing. But it’s not in 200c segment so it may be out of question for you. Today I heard KAWA250R might luanch soon, may be this coming month or so but still dark clouds. So I think you can wait more till you get better moto in your desire segment… So Wait & Just Watch..

  14. Chinmay Dangre on June 26, 2009 at 6:48 pm

I had Royal Enfield Motorcycle Authorised Service Point but I left it a year back just for Quality Issues and no great implementation in the product…So you can imagine a product from RE…Well but still choice is yours

Sorry I left out one issue.

Last weekend the motorcycle suddenly died itself after moving about 100mtrs. The kicker didn’t had the catch and the starter was dead. It was the first ride after a weeks idle. Later on pressing the starter switch a fast tick-tick-tick sound came from down. since it was nearby I pushed back home, cleaned plug battery contact and now the kicker got the hold. I fear the problem would be something else.. the battery starter motor etc???
