KTM 490 Adventure will be a reality soon and it has been officially confirmed by the CEO! We discuss the details…

Barely has the world caught upto KTM’s 375cc engine platform, the Austrian brand is getting ready with the next potential disruption! Stefan Pierer, CEO of KTM AG, has recently revealed fresh details about the new 500 cc engine that the company is working on.

This will be a dual cylinder engine and it will be manufactured by Bajaj Auto in India. Pierer also confirmed that the first 490 model (going by how KTM names its motorcycles) on this platform will be launched within two years. You can read more details here.

Now, the company recently added the 390 Adventure into the portfolio which has a lot of demand in the market (here is how Bajaj is managing it). It is the smallest Adventure model for now and a smaller 250 Adventure has also been confirmed but it has not been launched anywhere yet. It will be based on the underpinnings of the 390 ADV but with the 250 Duke’s motor.

Looking at the prospects the KTM 490 Adventure could be be the perfect mid capacity ADV that India is waiting for. However, the 2022 launch timeline may or may not apply to it. So far, there have been no spy pics of such a motorcycle. Expect it to follow the company’s weird but funky styling theme. It will be placed between the 390 Adventure at one end and the 790 Adventure on the other!
