Hero Down by 1.42 Lakh Units in August: Two-Wheeler Sales

It is carnage out there! Along with many other sectors, Auto industry is reeling under tremendous slowdown in sales. According to various reports, such as this, India’s manufacturing growth is at 15-month low in August.

World’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer by volume, Hero MotoCorp has announced its sales for the month and they have shied away from mentioning anything about its last August’s numbers!

Hero ended up dispatching 5,43,406 units of its scooters and motorcycles in August which are down by 1.42 lakh units (1,41,641 to be precise) as Hero managed 6,85,047 units in August 2018. This is a significant fall of 20.6 percent or in simpler terms 20 two-wheelers less per 100 it sold last August! Hero’s bread and butter Splendor brand suffered year’s lowest numbers in the month of July 2019 (details) and its individual numbers for August are expected in the days to come.

As per the MoM (Month on Month) numbers, Hero registered a growth of almost 1.5 percent over the month of July 2019, when it sold 5,35,810 units only.

Hero also notified that it has started home deliveries of its two-wheelers in the month of August. This service is currently limited to Mumbai, Bengaluru and Noida (more details). As a gesture, Hero had also announced zero labour fees and 30 percent discount on genuine spare parts for all flood affected two-wheeler owners in Kerala, North Karnataka and South Maharashtra.
