KTM Dealerships Seeing Shortage of 390 Dukes; Chip Shortage To Be Blamed

The KTM 390 Duke is facing long delivery delays according to many dealerships… chip shortage is to be blamed…

The pandemic has been hard on everyone and everything. From adapting to ‘new normal’, rising prices to supply-chain & logistics issues, citizens of our and other countries are facing a lot of issues and challenges.

Looking at the automotive industry, many vehicles are facing delayed delivery timelines because of chip-shortage, parts delays and/or long transit periods.

2018 Duke 390 Changes

Latest one to fall victim to these issues is the KTM’s most powerful single-cylinder naked offering – 390 Duke. According to various dealerships in metro cities such as Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi and Bengaluru, there is a long wait for deliveries of the 390 Duke from their showrooms, some extending as long as 45 days.

The main hindrance to the deliveres is the shortage of the TFT displays that this premium bike carries. Due to the shortage of the semiconductor chips that power the TFT display of 390 Dukes, the company is not able to complete the assemblies of these bikes on time.

Another problem that has added to the delays is the upcoming launch of the updated 390 Adventure and upgraded RC 390 siblings. Since these new machines hold priority over the relatively older 390 Duke, therefore these upcoming bikes are getting their requirements fulfilled first.

Hence, it has resulted in the 390 Duke to get the parts on second priority and therefore the delay in fulfilling the pending orders. The KTM 390 Adventure has already started reaching the dealerships and the prospective customers are allowed to see them on the showroom floors. While the 2022 version of RC 390 has been listed officially on the Indian website by the company, we are expecting the launch of the supersport to happen at the end of the month.
