Jawa Perak deliveries have again been delayed for an indefinite time period due to COVID. But what is it doing on the road…?
Classic Legends showcased Perak, its first bobber-styled motorcycle in India, way back in 2018. It revealed its price and announced its delivery timelines as well.
However, things slipped when the company could not streamline its manufacturing at Mahindra’s Pithampur facility and as a result, deliveries of regular models – Jawa and Forty Two, went beyond control. So much so that many customers had to wait for their booked motorcycles for around or over ten months. This automatically meant that Perak could not be brought in between!
Flip forward to November 2019 and Jawa again announced its (Perak’s) launch at a very slight premium. It went onto promise delivery commencements (again) from 2nd April onwards and as the destiny had it, COVID-19 stuck leading to a complete shutdown in the country. This gave Classic Legends another reason for a delay.
While the bookings have been open since the start of this year, Jawa has postponed the deliveries for an indefinite period citing disruption in the supply chain. Amidst all this, there has been an interesting development – a Perak, bearing red test number plates, has been spotted at the Mumbai-Pune highway.

The motorcycle is already on display at a few dealerships across India and it has been priced at Rs 1.95 Lakh ex-showroom Delhi. It gets a slightly bigger version of the same motor that powers the Jawa and Forty Two. As a result power and torque are higher and it will be BS6 from day one – if and when it arrives, that is!
