Honda 8 August launch will be a product under the company’s BigWing umbrella. We discuss the possible motorcycles and scooters that could be ‘The Formidable’!
So, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) have sent us a ‘Block Your Date’ invite for August 8.
The Block Your Date invite bears the words – “The Formidable, Coming Soon”. Other than these words, the invite mentions nothing else.
What is HMSI planning for August 8??
Looking closer in the invite mail sent to us, we see a small description in Italics that reads – “Get ready to experience NEW Design, Advancements and Performance from Honda’s BigWing”. Notice the mention of their premium vertical – BigWing??
This clears that the upcoming launch will not be any regular, low capacity product and it will be a premium offering. But, which one??
One model that comes to our mind that could be introduced into our country could be the update to the Honda CB500X. It was back in February that Honda unveiled the 2022 version of CB500X globally.
The 2022 Honda CB500X received a major update for this year. It received a new Pearl Organic Green colour with Black accents, new Showa USD front suspension, updated dual-disc brakes, a new swingarm made of a lighter material and much more. Honda could be planning to launch it on the date mentioned on the invite. But on second thoughts, an update to an already introduced motorcycle may not be as hype-creating.

Why don’t we look into one of many patents Honda have filed in many weeks and months that whizzed by. Considering that the new reveal/launch will be under the BigWing umbrella, we have limited options…
Looking through the many patents we have reported in the previous weeks and months, only 2 products fulfil the criteria – Honda ADV350 and Honda NT1100.
It was again back in February 2022 that Honda filed the patent for their NT1100 premium touring machine for India. The Honda NT1100 is a premium Grand Tourer (GT) motorcycle which is derived from the Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin ADV bike.
The CRF1100L Africa Twin ADV is already offered in India and is sold through Honda’s premium BigWing dealerships. Could the NT1100 be joining the line-up and be offered alongside the ADV model??
Honda ADV350 – It was last month that we reported the patent filing of Honda’s adventure-scooter offering. The ADV 350 and the bigger sibling X-ADV are a very popular range of adventure-scooters offered by Honda in the International market. These scooters combine the practicality of a scooter with the wild & versatile aspects of an ADV bike. Will the ADV350 be ‘The Formidable’ one??
And our final guess is the Forza maxi-scooter. In 2019-20, Honda officially confirmed that it would bring the Forza (it was 300 back then) to India. It, in fact, delivered a few units as CBUs. In the meantime, the scooter got bigger but the company did not talk about it at all. So, is it the Forza that is coming…?
