SPIED: Upcoming FZ Version 2 Spied in Chennai, Again!

Yamaha FZ version 2 has been seen and photographed again but this time somewhere in Chennai. The images come courtesy of Motoroids.com and show the naked carrying a registration plate from distant Uttar Pradesh, the home of Yamaha India! That apart, the bike looks pretty similar to the concept we saw during the Expo 2014.

The place appears to be some pick-up and transfer cargo. FZ needed a facelift and Yamaha is thoughtfully working on one. The air scoops and the fins under the tank have been redesigned and look better, the exhaust also seems similar to the one we saw on the concept. The tail light and the number plate bracket looks a tad different though and one wonders if the production FZ will sway any farther to the one that we see in these photographs.

Split seats are fine but I have taken an exception to the overly done up tire hugger. It will come mighty handy when the heavens open up during the monsoon, but really do we need it for all seasons? Perhaps the tool kit accompanying the new FZ V2 will have a screwdriver particularly designed to detach and attach easily the screws holding the hugger. A lot of Pulsar 200NS owners do the same.

The clear-lens turn indicators are slick and go well with the digital console but the front registration number plate do exactly the opposite. Don’t think one can really get rid of it without getting himself in trouble with the big bro.

The engine has been re-bored, some say. The new FZ is expected displacing 170cc, apparently, to outsmart the upcoming Suzuki Gixxer. With the limited knowledge presently at hand, can’t really corroborate or contradict. Bigger is always better, though; especially when it comes bereft a hike in the asking price.

Very recently we busted the wild speculations about R15 V3 by leaking the brochure scans. Yamaha has also introduced new colour options on the FZ series and the bikes have already reached dealerships. Going by this, we assume that the launch of this FZ Version 2.0 may take place only towards the second half of this year.
