Yamaha’s FZ-S belongs to that rare breed of bikes, which, despite its smaller capacity powerplant, manages to look imposing and swank. A Concept, based on the popular FZ-S, had been displayed at the Yamaha stand at the Expo. Decked out in cobalt blue, the FZ-S Concept gathered quite a few ‘oohhs’ and ‘aahhs’.
The bike, besides the different graphics and striking blue colour theme, had few subtle modifications on the current version of FZ-S, like:
- redesigned rear-view mirrors and stalks
- new air dam right under the fuel tank
- new-design exhaust painted in the body color
- repositioned tail lamp
- Redesigned rear
- Split seats
- Clear-lens indicators
- Bigger visor
Spec details weren’t forthcoming and so it could be surmised that this Concept most probably had the same output specs and the changes have been more or less cosmetic. The tyres continue to be MRF Zappers.
After numerous special editions and new colour options, Yamaha has been planning a decent facelift for the FZ-S for this year and the showcased concept may very well be the one that will be it. There are rumours about a possible engine rework, but for now let us keep the power and torque figures at the same 14PS and 13.6Nm.
Yamaha also world premièred the 250cc R25 Concept at the Auto Expo and launched the new Alpha scooter in the market.
