Xclusive: There is NO R15 V3: Same 17PS With New Color Options: Brochure Scans Leaked

Ever since a biking portal broke the story about a new more powerful YZR R15 version 3 with 18PS of power, we are sure a lot of you bikers must have put your purchases on hold waiting for the touted R15 Version 3.

But when we talked with our sources, they did not sound very positive about the increased power speculations which we have hinted in this article.

And through this post let us bust every rumour/speculation aside. In simple plain words: There is NO R15 Version 3! What you saw till now are just the new colour additions to the R15 lineup which could be called as the 2014 editions. Apart from the new colour options, there is not even a zilch of a change in the technical specs of the bike!

We thank one of our reader Anoop for sharing these brochure scans of the new 2014 Yamaha R15 with us which clearly list the same technical specs and the new colour options you can chose from.

New Colour Options:

New YZF R15 is available with a choice of 4 new colour options:

  1. Raring Red
  2. Invincible Black
  3. Racing Blue
  4. Grid Gold (Special Edition)

So, apart from the special edition colour, all the three colours appear to have been reversed..well almost! And barring the new Invincible Black colour, Yamaha had kept all the three colours at the Auto Expo (Two of them are also featured on this page).

There is no doubt that the new colours look awesome but how long will Yamaha continue this way, by just adding new colours to the kitty whenever they see increased competition. Since the bike got a refresh just now, we can bid good bye to the expected Version 3 for many months, possibly more than a year or so.

But yes, a technically and cosmetically enhanced Yamaha FZ version 2 is under development and has been spotted testing in India. You can check out its details and spyshots here.
