Despite a Higher Price, R15 v3 Sold Out in 20 Minutes in Indonesia [TVC Inside]

Yamaha has officially taken the swashbuckling R15 version 3 to two countries – Indonesia and Thailand so far. Indonesia is the first market to get the motorcycle, which will be followed by the Thai market. After its price reveal, bookings in Indonesia started on April 1st.

Online sales, it seems, were limited to only 155 units – which we believe is to further highlight the new cubic capacity of the motorcycle. And according to a Facebook update by Yamaha Indonesia, all the 155 units were sold out in 20 minutes flat! It appears that the increased price, which is now the highest among the 150cc sports class, is no deterrent to the fan following the motorcycle has.

The first 155 customers who booked the new R15 will also get VR46 T-shirts complementary.

If you are unaware, R15 v3 packs in a bigger 155.1 cc liquid cooled SOHC engine with VVA (variable valve actuation) and fuel injection. It also gets slipper clutch.

It produces 19.3 PS of peak power output at 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm of max torque at 8500 rpm. As you can notice, power is 3 PS higher but there is no ABS for now.

There are three colours on offer – Matte Black, Racing Blue and Matte Red. Deliveries are expected to commence sometime towards the end of April.

Yamaha also launched the TVC of the new R15 for Indonesia. Here it is…

Some importers are unofficially accepting bookings for the R15 v3 in Bangladesh as well. However in India we do not expect the motorcycle to come anytime soon.
