Hero to Unveil New 200cc+ Motorcycle at the Auto Expo – Next-Gen Karizma?

Next-Gen Karizma is the only ray of hope from the brand…

Hero MotoCorp is country’s largest motorcycle seller and by a big margin. However, their pole position is under threat from its erstwhile partner Honda. But more worrying for the company is the complete reliance on its commuter motorcycles in the 100 and 125 cc segment.

Hero has tried time and again to set foot in the 150cc and higher segments but they have failed miserably! They showcased some out-of-the-world concepts ranging from HX250R, Hastur etc back at the 2014 Auto Expo but the only word we have recently heard from them is that HX250R production plan has been axed. The reason they have provided is (control your laughter 😀 ) – according to them the game has moved on and shifted to higher segments and hence launching HX250R does not make sense! You can read about it here.

Next-Gen Karizma
The 2014 Karizmas were big sales disasters!

Nonetheless, it appears that Hero will continue to make concepts, irrespective of whether they are capable of making them production ready or not! According to a report at Autocar, Hero is expected to unveil yet another concept in the 200cc+ segment details of which are not known at the moment.

Remember, back at the 2016 Auto Expo, Hero had on display the naked XF3R which had a single-side swingarm and since then there hasn’t been a single word the manufacturer has uttered remotely related to it!

After keeping everyone waiting for the HX250R for four years, Hero has shelved it completely!

Next-Gen Karizma?

Amidst all the damp vibes surrounding the brand, Hero has confirmed that a new Karizma is under works (more details), which is what they should showcase at the Auto Expo and more importantly launch it up as soon as possible!

Next-Gen Karizma may carry inspiration from the pre-2014 models and continue harping on its legacy of being a wonderful tourer!

Apart from this and the launch of a 125 cc scooter, Hero will also, for the first time in India, display the 200cc XPulse ADV which is expected to be launched later in the year.
