Royal Enfield is currently a wounded bull! It has battered the recent onslaught of new competition in the form of Jawa, Benelli and many others are already eyeing its market share with envy! The degrowth in sales may also be a result of its ageing products and falling interests.
However, being almost invincible in its segment (still), the Chennai based motorcycle maker is fighting it out hard to maintain its status quo. After roping in veteran Vinod Dasari as the new CEO, Royal Enfield is planning to fire on all cylinders. And one of those growth strategies is – new products.
It appears that the largest retro motorcycle seller has also understood that its dependence on the Classic model could be harmful in the medium to longer run. It has already expanded into the twin cylinder mid capacity segment with the 650 Twins and the 410cc Himalayan ADV also appears to have gotten over its quality niggles.
Vinod Dasari has already revealed many a times that the company is working on many new products but a latest report has got us a number… a surprising number! According to an online report, Simon Warburton, RE’s Head of Product Development revealed that his company colleague Mark Wells (who is the Head of Product Strategy & Industrial Design in the company) has showed them ‘around 14 new models‘ in the last one year.
RE’s dynamic Managing Director, Siddharth Lal said that the company is in pretty good financial health and can survive the current downturn because of the slowdown which has further been aggravated by the COVID-19 pandemic. This allows them to invest in the future ‘tremendously’!
The break-up of these fourteen under-works models has, obviously, not been revealed and we also understand that not all of them will eventually make it to commercial production.

However, based on the recent spyshots and speculations and various rumors this is what a part of the list could comprise…

- Himalayan 650 Twin – Hinted multiple times.
Apart from these, which are almost confirmed, Royal Enfield may be working on the production version of KX bobber (which it has already shown as a concept – see the featured pic of this article) and newer motorcycles based on the 650 platform.
