Kawasaki India sales for the year 2018-19 suggest that the break-up with Bajaj has been good for the Japanese brand. They are now going great guns…
Kawasaki split with Bajaj back in the second half of 2017. It was considered to be a huge setback for them, as within a short span of time they were reduced to a handful of dealerships from a massive number (of Pro-Biking stores) they had when they were partners with Bajaj.
They, in fact, moved out of Bajaj’s plant and set up their own assembly facility in Chakan. So, the 2017-18 fiscal was gone in setting and establishing an independent identity for the company. They quickly expanded their dealership base and covered most of the big cities of India. Last financial year was their true test and it appears they have come out with flying colours!
Kawasaki India Sales 2018-19
According to official SIAM sales data we have access to, the Japanese brand has registered total sales of 3115 units in the period of April 2018 to March 2019. In the corresponding period of the previous fiscal they managed 1785 unit sales. This means that their sales grew by almost 75 percent. This is extremely surprising considering the fact that they still have only a handful of authorised dealerships in the country.

Very recently, Kawasaki ventured in the mid-capacity supersport segment with the launch of ZX-6R. They are carefully working on a lot of segments and with increased localisation they have been bringing us droolworthy motorcycles at equally good prices. It will be very interesting to see what products they will introduce this year in the market…
