Honda sales July 2020 – Though the company registered a decline in YoY numbers, the MoM figures were significantly better; green shoots for sure!
Looks like normalcy is returning to two-wheeler sales. After Hero, which crossed the 5 Lakh unit mark in July 2020 (numbers here), arch-rival Honda also inched upwards of that important 3 Lakh unit mark.
Honda Sales July 2020
Honda informs that it dispatched 3,09,332 units in the domestic market in July, which is a strong growth of 53 percent over 2,02,837 units the auto major managed in the month of June 2020. Exports were also up by 52 percent to 12,251 units. This is the first time after the April downfall that the Honda has crossed the milestone of 3 lakh units (and 10,000+ exports).
On this occasion, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Director – Sales & Marketing of the company said,
Meeting market demand with safety and increased efficiency, Honda’s sales momentum continues to accelerate in the 3 months since resuming operations – jumping 400% from 54,000 in May to 2 lac units in June, and now breaching the 3 lac mark. Intermittent regional lockdowns across India slowed down the retail momentum gained in June as the percentage of operational network dropped to 80% in July. With India moving to Unlock 3.0, we are cautiously optimistic of the demand. While the physical inventory level at our dealerships is less than a month’s sales, giving us confidence is the growth in new enquiries on back of increasing acceptability of Honda’s newly launched BS-VI models with advanced technology & features.
During this pandemic time period, Honda became the first maker to sell 1 million BS6 compliant motorcycles and scooters. At the moment, Honda sells as many as 13 BS6 models in the country.
It recently launched the updated X-Blade and we can soon expect something on the 2020 Hornet as well.
