Hero Xtreme 1R is yet another futuristic concept but deep down we know if it will spawn a motorcycle it will be very muted…
Hero and ‘concepts’ have not gone well together. It has showcased concepts like crazy, including a 620cc, 240 kph top speed motorcycle (Hastur). But barring one or two, nothing has gone even remotely close to production.
Its most talked about concept 31PS HX250R was showcased twice – first at the 2014 Auto Expo and then at the 2016 Auto Expo. Few years later, Hero informed that it has culled the project as ‘the market has moved on‘! More details..
Though Hero has announced that it won’t participate at the 2020 Auto Expo to focus on the BS6 emission norms but it is very much present at this year’s EICMA in Milan. And after teasing it on social media, the company has unveiled, wait a minute…. yet another outrageous looking concept motorcycle, under the name of Xtreme 1.R!
It says that the 1R is the next generation Xtreme and is inspired by ‘an arrow’. With a kerb weight of under 140 kilo, the concept motorcycle is claimed to be agile and a very responsive handler.
Xtreme 1R carries a basic air/oil cooled engine which means we are looking at a capacity of 150-200 cc. It is also equipped with red coloured upside down front forks which may never make it to production! The rear section has a camera, a sporty raised tail, slick rubber and what appears to be a performance exhaust. However, not much of this is expected to be carried over to a commercial motorcycle, for sure.

Hero does hint that it intends to take the Xtreme 1R to production but do not expect a stonker of a looker and this will be toned down to look more or less like a sporty commuter, similar to the Xtreme 200R.
