This is eMotion Surge – an upcoming electric motorcycle that will become India’s first geared e-bike. Lets discuss more on the details…
Test mules on the roads are always points of curiosity for biking enthusiasts. In a interesting development a slightly weird but interesting mule has been spotted. Upon careful analysis it gets clearer that it is the lesser known eMotion Surge!
It was during the Auto Expo earlier this year when the Coimbatore based eMotion Motors revealed concepts of its upcoming motorcycles. These are the first-ever spy pictures of the electric motorcycles that reveal quite a few bits about them.
The company intends to launch the bikes in two versions – Surge 6K and Surge 10K. As the names suggest, the 10K version will be the more powerful bike of the two. The 6K version is said to be around 40 percent lower on performance.
Some of the prominent features of these Surges include smartphone connectivity, navigation, cloud technology, geo-tagging, 7-inch digital instrument cluster, reverse mode, smart key, and a lot more.
The motorcycle, when launched, will become India’s first geared electric motorcycle. While the 6K version (powered by a 3-speed transmission) can achieve a top speed of 100 km/h, the 10K version (powered by a 4-speed transmission) is capable of doing 120 km/h. The peak torque of both the motorcycles stands at 28 Nm.
These electric motorcycles will come with 2.88 kWh swappable batteries, which, the company claims, provides an impressive range of 200 km on a full charge. It takes roughly 3.5 hours to charge to full from empty. However, if you use a DC fast-charger, the charging will get completed in just 50 minutes.
eMotion is expected to launch the motorcycle in the coming months and it may be retailed at prices starting at around Rs 1.3 lakh (ex-showroom price).
