Return of the nostalgic 80’s moped Kinetic Luna is rumored in an all-new electric format. Currently, no one sells e-mopeds..

People who are born in the 80s and the 90s will definitely remember that advertisement on national television which had the tagline “Chal Meri Luna”. The small moped with pedals that you could use even without fuel in it, just like a bicycle, was highly popular back in those days.

The 50cc moped that Kinetic claimed would return 80 kmpl ceased to exist as it could not meet the modern emission norms. Later, Kinetic also exited the two-wheeler industry.

Years later, the company forayed into the electric segment and started making electric three-wheelers, e-rickshaws, and more. In fact, the company also claims that they are the leaders in the segment. In a latest update, Kinetic now, intends to return to the two-wheeler segment, and what better brand than Luna, to start the new journey?

As per the latest rumors, Kinetic is planning to bring back the popular moped in an electric avatar. The electric moped is expected to run a 1 kW motor backed by a Li-ion battery that can provide a range of around 70-80 km on a single charge.

What’s more? You would not be required to register the vehicle with RTOs, as the vehicle will have a top speed of around 25 km/h. The low-speed electric moped is expected to be priced under ₹50,000 (on-road). It will come with features like electric start, LED DRLs, USB charging port, etc. while retaining a similar design to incite the nostalgia among prospective buyers.
