Hero Achiever discontinuation will leave the company product-less in the 150cc segment.
Achiever was never a very exciting motorcycle! It was born with an engine directly lifted from Honda Unicorn 150 and it still continues to use the same. It spent most of its life being one of the lowest selling 150cc motorcycle month after month.
And a report at Bikewale now claims that Hero has decided to pull the plug on its only 150cc motorcycle. An obvious reason is the lack of sales but wait, there is more to it. We believe part of its failure can be attributed to Hero’s pricing strategy as well.
A new version was launched in September 2016 when Achiever received fresher (and still commuter) design, i3S engine and AHO. And as we reported last time (here), within a span of less than two years, the price of the motorcycle saw a whopping increment of Rs 6100 which was almost 10 percent of the original price of the motorcycle.

BIG Reason Why Hero Should be Worried About Their Own Technology
And if we consider today’s prices, Achiever has received an increment of Rs 7250 on the ex-showroom Delhi price which is about 12 percent of its price three years back! We have not seen manufacturers hiking prices of products which are not doing well in the market this insanely; this makes us wonder who taking decisions at Hero!

Nonetheless, reportedly, Achiever is being culled because Hero does not want to invest on adding ABS to it. Not that many will miss this motorcycle but let us hope they learn from its strategic mistakes as they are costing them dearly.
