After debuting at the Beijing Motor Show on May 28th Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 have officially been launched in China. Interestingly, both the models come at a price tag that makes them costlier than the Duke 390.
The Svartpilen 401 and the Vitpilen 401 cost CNY 51,800 which is approximately INR 5.96 Lac. On the other hand, the donor vehicle – Duke 390 is priced at 47,800 CNY which is roughly equal to INR 5.5 Lac.
This also marks the debut of the Swedish Husqvarna brand in China. Interestingly, in India, KTM/Bajaj follow a different strategy. The 250 Husqvarna siblings available here are placed under the 250 Duke. We are yet to get more models from the brand but it appears that the Huskys may continue to be placed under equivalent KTMs.
The Svartpilen and Vitpilen are based on the same platform of the 390 Duke and carry the exact same motor as well. The single-cylinder, 4-stroke 373cc engine churns 44hp power at 9000 RPM and 37Nm of peak torque at 7000 RPM.
Designwise, the 401 Husqvarnas are neo-retro styled models with minimalistic parts. Though they are smaller machines, they stand out precisely because of their quirky styling.

Talking of features, the Svartpilen and Vitpilen offer dual-channel ABS as standard with Bybre’s 4-piston radial brake calipers. The bikes get slipper clutch and quick shifter. Both of them come with WP shock absorbers.

Svartpilen utilizes a 300mm fixed front disc and a 230mm single disc brake. The Vitpilen come with a 320mm front rotor and the same 230 mm single disc brake on the rear wheels.
