Breaking: Yamaha FZ-X Launch on 18 June

Yamaha FZX launch date has been officially revealed. The company has sent out media invites for an online launch event…

After a fairly long time, Yamaha will be expanding its motorcycle portfolio in India with the launch of the new FZ-X. The FZ-X is an India-spec motorcycle that takes design inspiration from the international XSR155.

Earlier today, Yamaha has shot in a ‘Save your Date’ official media invitation for 18 June 2021, which specifies that it will be a ‘new and exciting launch‘. Considering the current restrictions due to the COVID pandemic, it will be an online-only event.

Going by the speak used in the mail, Yamaha will be promoting it with the theme – RIDE FREE. The event will start at 11 am.

While the XSR is based on the R15’s platform, our Indian FZ-X is derived from the 150cc FZ range. As we had discussed earlier, Yamaha must have received encouraging feedback for the XSR155 but instead of launching it directly, it is taking a slightly difficult but safer way.

It is not known if the FZX will sit over or under the current 150cc FZ range (which comprises the base FZ and sportier FZS – range starts at Rs 1.05 Lakh). If Yamaha can, somehow, price it lower, we can expect a fairly good response for the retro version of this range.
