Before you get too excited, let us tell you Yamaha XSR125 India launch possibility is almost nil. It is based on R125 and MT125…
In the European market, Yamaha has been selling the 125cc series of R125 and MT125 in the learner legal class. This, then, is a perfect set-up for the new, smaller XSR. And a confirmation has finally come in!
According to a new type-approval, Yamaha is almost ready with its XSR125. The name along with most of its key specs have been revealed. The XSR125 will be powered by the same 125cc motor of the MT125 and it produces 11 KW (or nearly 15 PS) of peak power at 10,000 rpm along with a max torque of 11.5 Nm at 8000 rpm.
It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and comes with a steel deltabox frame, aluminum swingarm along with upside down front forks. It also gets the Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) that we have on our R15. It has similar dimensions as the XSR155 which is sold in Thailand, Indonesia and other markets. Though there is no picture of the 125cc XSR, all hints point at the possibility of it being a replica of the bigger XSR155.

OPINION: Why FZ-X & Why NOT the R15-Based XSR155 for India…?
With this, Yamaha is expanding its portfolio in Europe and before you begin to expect it here in India, let us tell you that chances of it being launched in our market are almost nil. Instead of that, Yamaha has developed an XSR inspired motorcycle that will be called as FZX and it is a 150cc model. You can check its spy pics and details here.
