‘Several’ New 650cc Models Under Works, Confirms RE CEO

Upcoming RE 650cc models may comprise a scrambler, ADV and few other variants. New motorcycles will start coming from next month itself..

Royal Enfield is on a new product carnage. It will start its Royal Enfield 2.0 strategy with the all new ground up Meteor 350 which is scheduled for launch in June.

Apart from the new 350cc platform, Royal Enfield’s CEO Vinod Dasari has revealed that the company is working on several new models on the 650 platform as well. The 650 platform currently spawns the Interceptor 650 as well as the Continental GT 650 – both of which have been extremely well received.

Vinod says that there could be several other models on this platform which can further have different variants under them. Here is it in his words…

One of the things that we need to do is to have several variants of the 650, and I’m sure our fans are very excited about all the potential opportunities, so like I said, P is a platform, there were two models, the Interceptor and the Continental GT, there could be several other models, each one of those models could come with several variants, and so on. So, we’ll build a tree on it. The feedback was absolutely superb. So, we’re working on several versions of it, and we’ll come back to you soon…

He elaborated that this engine platform could be re-used and it may include new frames as well. And hence, the company is looking at various iterations and the company has plans to launch new motorcycles every quarter for the coming 3-4 years.

There are recent rumors of a scrambler version being made on the 650 platform. Earlier, top brass of the company had already confirmed about the bigger Himalayan 650. So far, there has been no spy pics of any fresh twin cylinder model from the company which leads us to believe that the new 650 models may start coming in after a while.
