Let us present to you the story bit by bit. TVS announced their joint venture with German BMW Motorrad which will produce mid-sized bikes for India as well as international markets. They showcased the very aggressive Draken concept at the Auto Expo in 2014, without revealing too much of it, but it did carry the asymmetrical design of BMWs.
Various stories talked about a lot of stuff, but the last report which shared the fact that TVS has imported a bike from Germany has been codenamed as K03 (here). And for the first time, we see that the motorcycle is on the roads testing.
These latest spy pics of the new small capacity BMW-TVS motorcycle from Germany by Visordown.com, confirm that K03 will be a naked street fighter design and does have a lot for inspiration from the Draken concept.
For instance, the extended tank shrouds, front mud-guard, an upswept tail etc but it doesn’t have those petal discs and underbelly exhaust. There are extra air scoops under the tank and this test mule doesn’t have the engine guard as well.
We see an FZ like headlamp with projectors, single disc brakes at the front and rear, inverted front forks, Michelin tyres etc. That large radiator confirms that the engine will be a liquid cooled single cylinder motor, most probably in the vicinity of 300ccs or thereabouts.
Here is how the Draken looked like
The report says that the test mule was being subjected to benchmarks against the hugely successful Duke 390. The K03 platform is also expected to spawn an adventure as well as a fully faired sportsbike. Unveiling of (at least) this naked TVS-BMW is expected within this year (report here).
