TVS-BMW Motorcycle Codenamed as K03; New Details Emerge

After the KTM-Bajaj alliance, if there has been one collaboration which has kept everyone super excited, it has to be the BMW Motorrad and TVS alliance. The joint venture is scheduled to come out with a bike in the capacity between 300-500cc sometime next year and it seems that the work is in full swing right now. The latest buzz is that the company has imported a motorcycle under the BMW Motorrad for aiding in the developmental process.

TVS-BMW-K03-Motorcycle-Prototype

As per Zauba.com, a motorcycle prototype and a few spare parts including few pieces of rolling chassis and exhaust system have been imported for research and development purposes. There have been reports earlier that the first of the TVS-BMW product will be designed and developed in Munich by the Germans while the rest of the process, which probably includes tuning the bike as per the requirements and enhancing its road worthiness for our road conditions will be done by TVS in India.

One of the code hints that the prototype motorcycle has been imported in India for style approvals, however, the indicative price listed is a whooping Rs 8.49 Lakhs! On the other hand, the exhaust systems have been listed at Rs 4,000 and 10,000! Deducing anything from these stats is something very confusing and unfruitful at this time.

With the induction of the Duke and RC 390 and Benelli making its way to India as well, the collaboration is going to face some strong competition, however, everyone is keenly looking forward to the German engineering in these small packets!

TVS had showcased a brilliant-looking prototype during the Expo called the Draken (pictured above) which may give rise to K03’s final design but again there is no confirmation on that.

This development affirms that work is in full pace and we can expect the launch of TVS BMW’s K03 sometime in 2015, more towards the second half possibly.
