Satoshi Uchida is Suzuki India’s Head. He specifies that he will focus on growing company’s market share in the premium segment…
Suzuki Motorcycle India has made changes to its top level position. Satoshi Uchida has joined as the company’s head and he replaces Koichiro Hirao with effect from 1st May 2021.
Satoshi is not new to India as he had already worked here and was Deputy Executive General Manager- Motorcycle Operations (India/Middle-East/Africa). In his previous role he was with Suzuki’s American arm.
Mr Uchida has a total of over 30 years of experience and has been deputed across various global markets. He is known for his leadership skills, business strategy and commitment towards the Suzuki brand.
In India, his job will be to find out new avenues of growth and better Suzuki India’s position in the market. Uchida accepts the worrying condition here in the wake of the second wave of COVID-19 but he is confident of Suzuki’s business bouncing back – quicker than expected which will give him a nice platform to build upon his past experience here.
Few years back Suzuki ditched the entry level motorcycle segment to focus on premium segments. In its endeavor, it launched the 250cc Gixxers. Satoshi says that he will strengthen the Make in India initiative and will focus to improve market share in the premium segment. It must be remembered that Mr Uchida had revealed back in 2019 that the company is working on 250cc models and after that it will go for bigger bikes. You can read more details here.
