New Dominar-Like Motorcycles Coming; Announcement in 2-3 Months

Most of the limelight for this year has been snatched by Bajaj and KTM as they introduced Dominar 400, new Pulsars and as many as five motorcycles under the KTM brand. So, ideally, this should signal an end of their onslaught and according to a common understanding – they should now sit back and build on marketing and expanding these motorcycles. But wait…

Bajaj has plans to retain their aggression and in an interview to Money Control, Rajiv Bajaj believes that the consumer excitement has shifted to this 1-2 lakh price segment in the last year or so. And hence, they have plans to launch more products in this range which could be introduced under the Dominar brand, KTM or an altogether a new brand.

Dominar is just the beginning of more motorcycles to come….

His exact wordings…

“We would like to introduce more and more products in the Dominar range, in the Rs 1-2 lakh price range. We have some very active plans for this and in the next 2-3 months we should be able to make some important announcement on this…
…(New launches) could be in the Dominar brand, KTM brand or it could be a new brand”

Some portals are reading this wrongly! Let us clarify that Rajiv Bajaj has clearly said that the announcement of new product(s) will be within 2-3 months and not their launch! At a few websites, they are making you believe that Bajaj will launch new motorcycles in this price range in the said time range! It is incorrect!

Considering possibilities – if it is a KTM, then rest assured we are talking about the 390 Adventure which was confirmed by Rajiv Bajaj for India before they launched the new RCs.

If it is a motorcycle under the Dominar brand, it could either be a half-faired Sports/Adventure tourer or a fully-faired sportsbike preview of which could be considered as the Pulsar SS400 of the Auto Expo 2014. I am of the view that they will NOT introduce another new brand.

So, its all getting heated up – it will be worth a wait to see what will Bajaj shoot next…
