Aprilia SXR160 Pics – First Look
Aprilia has hinted that SXR160 will be placed in the premium segment in India. Currently, we only have Burgman Street as a Maxi-scooter in our market. Aprilia is calling it new ‘Crossmax Design’. Upfront are split LED headlamps with ‘eyeline’ position lamps as we can see in this pic.The SXR160 has been designed in Italy for India and it will be manufactured at Piaggio’s Baramati facility.Upon launch, SXR160 will become one of the sportiest scooters in town. The handlebar is high and is expected to offer an upright seating posture.It will be powered by the new 160cc BS6 compliant fuel injected engine which does duty on the Vespa and SR range. On the current BS6 models, it produces 10.8 bhp of power which is marginally higher than the BS4 variants.SXR160 is shod with 12 inch tyres and 5-spoke alloy wheels. Aprilia says they will be wide-pattern tyres. It will come with Antilock braking system and front disc brake.The upcoming SXR also gets LED tail lamps as we can see. It features a big underseat storage area which will have a separate lamp. There is a 210 cm multifunction all digital instrument cluster for reveling information and will also include a mileage indicator as well.Aprilia says the SXR 160 will be sold in four colours – Red (pictured), Blue, Black and white. There will be dedicated accessories like mobile docking system apart from Aprilia branded merchandise.
Aprilia has confirmed that there will be a 125cc version of this scooter as well, which we believe may come later.
Aprilia SXR160 will be launched in quarter 3 of this year. Its bookings will commence online in August according to an official statement from the company.
With the SXR160, sporty scooters will get a push and we may see more makers, specially the leader Honda, joining the bandwagon with its international models.
