Kawasaki ELIMINATOR is Back! Rivals Super Meteor 650

However, Eliminator 500 price in India is on the higher side. How will people react to the Eliminator nameplate will be interesting to see..

Kawasaki has officially announced the launch of its Eliminator 500 in India. It is not for the first time we are getting this nameplate. Back in the 2000s, when Kawasaki was in partnership with Bajaj Auto, it introduced the Eliminator moniker here. That motorcycle sported a much smaller, single cylinder 180cc engine and was replaced by the locally made Avenger by Bajaj.

The Eliminator 500 is also a fairly new model and saw the day of light around middle of last year. The cruiser carries a 451cc, parallel twin engine which produces 45 PS of peak power at a high-ish 9000 rpm and 42.6 Nm of max torque at 6000 rpm. This mid capacity motor is born out of the Ninja 400’s engine and has a longer stroke. Kawasaki promises ‘strong’ low end with this new engine derivative, suiting the cruiser application.

Kawasaki’s already existing (in India) Vulcan 650 is a bigger and relatively sportier cruiser whereas the Eliminator is more of an old-school cruiser for the market.

The Eliminator is brought to India as a CKD and hence you see a higher (than expected) price tag. Still, it is 1.48 Lac cheaper than its sibling Vulcan S. However, it costs a lot more than the Super Meteor 650 – which is probably the closest rival it has here.

It is good to see more action in the mid-capacity cruiser segment, which has been in more focus after the launch of the Super Meteor from Royal Enfield. Eliminator looks great, has fairly good specs and features but it is the price that could have been more aggressive – to make a compelling case in the market.

It will still be interesting to see how many people opt for the cruiser and how much mileage does it get with that known ‘Eliminator‘ naming!
