If you were overjoyed with the confirmation of the launch of Pulsar RS200 (200SS), here is some more dope for you. Rival manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp is also reportedly going to launch the much awaited quarter litre HX250R soon. The bike has a 250cc liquid cooled, fuel injected mill which claims to produce a real interesting 31 PS of maximum power.
Showcasing its technological capability after its split with Honda, the HX250R will be their first product which will help them build (or crash) their independent brand in India and the world.
This report comes from Autocar India, who says that the Gurgaon based manufacturer will launch the HX250R along with Dash ‘soon’, however, they have not given any specific month or time period.
While Hero is the world’s leading motorcycle manufacturer in terms of sales volume, the company has not been able to sell substantial number of units in any other segment apart from the 100-125cc motorcycles. Anything over that has been an Achilles Heel for them and for a long time now!
For instance, despite the presence of 4 motorcycles in the 150cc segment, they are the lowest sellers! Even in the higher segments, the new 2014 Karizma twins are registering fall in sales. (More Details here & here).
With the HX250R, Hero must be intending to showcase their might to all those who have written them off as ‘100cc bike makers’ and we must admit the motorcycle appears to be a real interesting preposition and has created quite a lot of hype ever since its unveiling last year.
