Hero-Harley Davidson Partnership Almost Certain; Sign Off Possible This Month

Hero-Harley Davidson partnership will make the Indian behemoth in-charge of the distribution of American motorcycles, however, Hero wants a deeper pact…

It appears that Harley Davidson’s chapter may not be completely over in India, as was also hinted in the cryptic press note the company shared few weeks back (details here). Harley Davidson, as a completely owned subsidiary is now a thing of the past but you may still be able to buy brand new Harley motorcycles here.

As has been in the rumors, Harley Davidson is in advanced stages of talks with Indian behemoth Hero MotoCorp for a distribution deal for our market. Through this deal Hero will take care of sales, service and spares of Harley Davidson branded motorcycles imported from Thailand.

For this, Hero will take control of all the 33 Harley’s dealerships in India and will provide them support. If this happens, this will be the first such venture Hero will move into, independently.

The talks have been going on for some months but Hero wants to extract more out of this partnership. It is reportedly wanting to have a pact which will allow sharing of technology with the American cruiser maker for a mid-sized motorcycle.
