Dominar Non-ABS variant is a non-seller but Bajaj has quashed its recent discontinuation reports…
In product terms, Bajaj Dominar 400 is a ‘fairly good’ motorcycle but its biggest USP is its surprise price tag which makes it a terrific VFM! Bajaj introduced it in two trims – one with ABS and the other entry variant without ABS.
In what should be seen as a positive sign, according to unconfirmed reports only about 20 percent or 2 out of 10 buyers of Dominar are buying the non-ABS version of the motorcycle. So, about 80 percent of motorcyclists consider paying a minor amount for a much safer model – clear signs of a maturing market.
There was a recent report about Bajaj having discontinued the non-ABS model but in an official clarification, the Pune based major has informed us that the non-ABS version continues to be on sale. However, they have added that it has been limited to the Matt Black colour only. The Dominar 400 ABS continues to be on offer in all the three colours – Canyon Red, Glacier Blue and Matt Black.
As we have reported recently, Bajaj has, yet again, increased Dominar 400’s price tag and with that, after the recent hike, the total price increment stands at 6 percent since launch (ie within 13-14 months). You can read more about it here.
We have seen this trend of buyers opting for ABS-equipped versions in higher segment models but let us hope, with makers offering ABS in 150cc motorcycles, more motorcyclists switch to the safer variant on offer.
