BMW is consolidating its portfolio in India. After its introduced the F900 siblings recently, the German motorcycle maker has announced the launch of the 2020 S1000 XR. BMW says S1000 XR has the ergonomics of the popular GS family and the genes of the supersport RR. In essence, it is a liter class sports tourer with ADV capabilities.
The new S1000 RR is a Bharat Stage 6 compliant motorcycle and it will be offered as a completely built unit (CBU). It sports the same 999cc in-line four cylinder engine which also powers the RR. On the XR it churns 165 hp of peak power at 11,000 rpm and 114 Nm of max torque at 9,250 rpm. BMW claims a top speed of over 200 kph and a 0-100 kph sprint in 3.3 seconds.
Focus is on everyday rideablity. The S1000 XR has longer 4th, 5th and 6th gears which offer lower fuel consumption, lower engine rpm and low noise levels. It has received a new suspension and features four riding modes – Rain, Road, Dynamic and Dynamic Pro.

Other key features in the motorcycle include Dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment), Dynamic Engine brake control, DBC (Dynamic brake control) and ABS Pro.
It comes with a 6.5 inch color TFT instrument cluster with BMW Motorrad connectivity along with a multi-controller on the left side handlebar.

The sports tourer is available in one single ‘Pro’ variant in India and can be bought in two colors – Ice Grey and Racing Red. Bookings have commenced from today across all BMW dealerships in India.
