BMW F900 XR price is in the region of the bigger Kawasaki Versys 1000 in India which appears to be its only indirect rival at the moment…
Along with the roadster sibling F900 R (launch article here), BMW has also officially launched the F900 XR in India which is the sports touring version of this platform.
The F900 XR continues with the same in-line, water cooled, 8-valve, twin cylinder 895 cc engine which produces 105 hp of max power at 8500 rpm and 92 Nm of peak torque at 6500 rpm. BMW says that the high torque engine offers ‘right speed range to get the most fun out of power‘.
The dual headlamps are plonked on a semi-fairing and a bigger visor to offer ample protection against wind blasts under long distance touring. The handlebar and foot-peg position is set to offer the rider an fairly upright, comfortable position.
In terms of performance, BMW claims that the XR can do a top speed of over 200 kmph along with a 0-100 kmph sprint within 3.6 seconds.

While the roadster sibling is offered only in a single variant, the adventure sports tourer can be had in two variants – Standard and Pro.
The features on the Standard variant comprise anti-lock braking system (ABS), automatic stability control (ASC), anti-hopping clutch, etc. The ‘Pro’, in addition, gets Cruise Control, Gear Shift Assist Pro and ESA – Electronic Suspension Adjustment). The ESA allows alteration of suspension settings on the fly.

In terms of connectivity, the F900 siblings come with the segment-largest 6.5 inch color TFT screen with BMW Motorrad Connectivity. Riders can connect their smartphones, BMW Motorrad Communication System equipped helmets with the motorcycle and can listen to music, make phone calls along with arrow-based navigation.

Bookings of the F900 XR also begins from today and it is offered in two colors – Light White and Sport Style Racing Red.
