BMW unveiled two very interesting motorcycles at the 2019 EICMA from the Indian context – the F900 siblings. And bang in the middle of the year, we have them here in our domestic market. BMW Motorrad has officially launched the F900 R and F900 XR in India today through an online event. We will quickly discuss the roadster model in this story and do a separate article for the semi-faired tourer.
The F900 R carries the brand’s roadster styling with heavy, humped tank and a muscular body – a bigger version of the G310 R, in a sense. It is powered by an in-line, twin cylinder, 895 cc water cooled engine which has a total of 8 valves – 4 per cylinder. It produces 105 hp of peak power at 8500 rpm along with a maximum torque of 92 Nm at 6500 rpm. BMW claims a 0-100 kph sprint in 3.6 seconds along with a top speed of 200 kmph.
In terms of features, it is equipped with a large 6.5 inch color TFT screen with BMW Motorrad Connectivity, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Automatic Stability Control (ASC), anti-hopping clutch as standard. In addition, there are two riding models – Rain and Road for different conditions.
