BMW G310R Launched in Malaysia (at 4 Lakh) as India Looks in Vain

Though it is being made here, G310R launch undecided for India, for now…

Motorcycle enthusiasts in India should have had the smallest and the most affordable BMW by now going by the earlier announcement the Germans made. However, in a twist of turns they have declared that they do not have any plans to launch G 310R in India (more details) which simply means that the motorcycle is not on the first few pages of the plan. However, it is being made in India by TVS and hence a domestic introduction is definitely awaited, but no one knows when!

Ahead of its Indian debut, BMW has taken the G310R to Malaysia. The motorcycle has been launched in the country at RM 26,900 including GST which roughly translates to around 4 lakhs in INR! We tried to search for the price of Duke 390 there but it appears that the 2017 variant has not been introduced yet.

Just a quick recap of what the G310R will bring to the table – It is powered by a 313 cc single cylinder mill which churns out 34 hp of maximum power at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm. The unladen weight of 158.5 kilos is what should make it a nimble offering.

It flaunts a rigid tubular steel frame, upside-down fork and a long swingarm for stability. At the front wheel, a single 300 mm disc brake with radially bolted 4-piston fixed caliper does duty. The rear wheel gets a single piston floating caliper in conjunction with a 240 mm brake disc.
