Bajaj to Launch Smaller Avenger 150 Soon [Speculation]

We heard it a few days back but then the whole puzzle did not seem to fit and we discarded it as a mere rumor. However, as we see it, it is getting intense and a new report from a reputed portal seems to indicate that things may just go real interesting from the Bajaj’s camp!

What we are talking about is the new Avenger which will now be split into a series of motorcycle variants. The first one, as we have seen is the Avenger Street, a road going smarter version of the current Avenger. Then came the pics of Avenger Cruise which will get some design tweaks and will be promoted as a cruiser! And then there is this news snippet at Autocar Professional which claims that there will be a third smaller variant in the pipeline – 150cc Avenger 150!

The Avenger currently averages more than 3000 unit sales despite carrying the same design since inception. The new variants are being prepared to take this figure closer to the 10,000 monthly mark which, though high, looks possible considering the strong-hold the motorcycle currently has. No competition at all also helps!

No points for guessing that the Avenger 150 will be the cheapest in the lineup and may form the major chunk of sales. However, which engine will Bajaj use is a question mark at this time – They have the option of the older 150cc engine from the Pulsar 150 DTSi and the latest 4-valve motor from the Pulsar AS150. We do not think Discover 150’s motor will be considered!

According to the report, all these new Avengers are expected to be launched very shortly and may start making ways from this month-end itself… So, what do you think – a smaller, cheaper 150 cc Avenger cruiser, if it goes true, is a masterstroke from Bajaj or will it be a commercial flop?
