Bajaj has only recently launched the updated Pulsar range with the RS200, the company’s first fully faired bike, as their new flagship. However, in an interesting development, spy pictures have come up thanks to an IndianAutosBlog reader of what is claimed to be its bigger sibling – the much awaited Pulsar RS400, which was first unveiled at the Auto Expo 2014, under the brand name SS400!
The images show that the bike looks exactly the same as the RS 200 with identical graphics and styling cues. The bike also carries the ABS stickers at the front mud guard, which is expected to be standard on the elder sibling and possibly a dual-channel unit (RS 200 gets single channel ABS)! This recent sighting of the bike sans any iota of camouflage, has a clear RS 400 badge on the rear cowl which is the reason of all the hullabaloo! See below…
However, we are a little skeptical. According to the information we have with us, Bajaj may not have the RS400 sticker-ready yet. Another question which we have is – Will Bajaj launch the RS400 so soon? Mr Rajiv Bajaj, the company’s supremo, had given hints that the bike will come this fiscal but we expect it to launch only towards the end of the (financial) year.
Their next Pulsar is, for sure, the new Pulsar NS150 which is absolutely ready and will get the same 4-valve powerful motor and credentials of the Pulsar AS150, sans the fairing.
Whenever it will launch, the RS400 will carry the same 373.2 cc engine from the RC390 and is expected to be slightly detuned. We sense a peak power output of around 35 to 40 PS as compared to 43.5 PS of the KTM, which will still make the bike an extreme performance midsizer!
In comparison to the RC390, RS400 will be an easier road-going version with a higher fuel efficiency and more practicality, like how it has been so far… Going by the stunning prices of the Duke and RC390, Bajaj should send shock waves with the Pulsar RS400…

Coming back to these spy pics, we are not sure but somewhere we have the feeling that this may just be a very neat sticker-job than the motorcycle itself. We would love to be proved wrong though… 🙂
