Dominar Gets One of the Highest Price Hikes; Second in 3 Months

Dominar latest price is Rs 30,000 higher than the original price of the (ABS) model – what a drastic change in placement in all these years!

It is not a very favourable trend that has been getting generated in the last few years. Manufacturers increase prices of their newly launched motorcycles and scooters multiple times within a few weeks/months of its first launch. And this is apart from the price increase necessitated by various government regulations.

It is not that prices of every (or some) raw material go up significantly at one go but makers just go ahead with price hikes, sometimes abruptly. The latest motorcycle to go through this regime is the new 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400. Here is the price flow…

Dominar Latest Price

Launch price (April 2019)Rs 1,73,870
Price in May 2019Rs 1,74,125
Price in July 2019 – LatestRs 1,80,001

The new Dominar was launched in April this year and soon after some confusion on the official website (details here), it was learnt that Bajaj had increased the price within the first few days of the motorcycle’s launch (by a few hundred rupees).

Flip over two months and Bajaj has yet again increased the prices of Dominar, this time by a significant amount of Rs 5876 over its older prices and Rs 6131 over the first announced price. This has meant that the motorcycle has become dearer by over 3.5 percent in a matter of three months!
