Pulsar 125 Coming Soon But it Won’t Be ‘NS’ [Speculation]

Bajaj Pulsar 125 launch will give the brand a motorcycle under the fast selling sub-brand but at substantially lower prices…

There have been frequent whispers of a new 125cc motorcycle from Bajaj. Wait, that is not a big thing! But the big thing is that it will be a Pulsar! The last time we talked about it was just last week when Rakesh Sharma, ED at Bajaj Auto announced a new motorcycle in the mid-segment slated for launch this month (more details). Earlier, Rajiv Bajaj has said that the new Pulsar will be ‘very innovative’!

This automatically takes our attention to the Pulsar NS125 Bajaj sells in some international markets. This international NS125 borrows its design, and probably the underpinings from the Pulsar LS135 of India. However, that will not be the case according to Autocar! They say that a new Pulsar 125 is definitely on the cards but it will not be the NS125!

Instead, it is expected to be based on the looks of the existing Pulsar 150, most probably the barebones Neon edition. What will be the depth of platform sharing is not known, but since it will be a ‘Pulsar’ Bajaj may use the sportier motor of the NS125 which churns out a healthy 13.05 PS of power and 11.4 Nm of torque. For reference the Discover 125 produces 11 PS and 11 Nm.

A smaller, affordable Pulsar with similar looks of the segment-largest seller siblings could further help Bajaj continue with the strong hold they have in this segment. This has been necessitated by the continuous price increase because of the various regulations like transition to BS IV, mandatory CBS/ABS and compulsory five year insurance. The upcoming BS VI emission norm compliance from next year will further have an effect on motorcycle prices.
