We gave you a preview last month of the then-upcoming Harley Owners’ Group’s (H.O.G.) third Northern Rally this month (7-9 November), and let us now tell you that this one was again a roaring success, literally. I repeat, a ‘roaring success’ – how else would you define an event that saw the attendance of 700 Harley-Davidson owners! Riders from all 13 India H.O.G. Chapters rode, some from as far as Kochi and Chennai, to Pushkar, Rajasthan to make this one the largest zonal H.O.G. rally so far.
These rallies are organized exclusively by and for Harley owners and this time, in addition to the de rigueur arm wrestling competitions, workshops on pre-ride motorcycle maintenance, etc., the riders also got to experience hot-air balloon rides and helicopter rides! And camping in sand dunes and fusion music night provided the staple flavour of Pushkar.
This H.O.G. rally was even more special as the Harley owners were also in for another visual delight – the newly launched Harley-Davidson motorcycle, Breakout. A new addition to the Harley-Davidson’s Softail family, launched just around a fortnight back, this cruiser was also on display at the 3rd Northern H.O.G. Rally.
Every year, during the riding season from September to March, these zonal H.O.G. rallies make for some offer great touring experiences across the country. Lifelong friendships are born in this congregation of like-minded people who also swap stories and bond over their love for adventure, self-expression and freedom of riding. If by any chance you missed this one, you still have enough time to wipe the dust off that Bar and Shield and gear up for the upcoming 3rd Eastern H.O.G. Rally to Khajuraho in December 2014.
