2022 KTM RC200 Unveiled – Changes & Details

2022 RC200 changes list include a completely new styling, weight loss, instrumentation revision, chassis updates and more…

Along with the 2022 RC390, KTM has also unveiled the new RC200 and it will soon find its way into the Indian markets. Upfront, the big changes come in the design language of the motorcycle. From a hooligan that the older version was, KTM has adopted a relatively mature styling now. The Duke-like headlamp replaces the twin projection lamps with a bigger halogen lighting.

Similarly, the fairings have been redesigned and the same aesthetics are being carried over to the entry-level RC125 and the RC390.

Interestingly, the new RC125 and RC390 now come with fresh fully digital TFT instrument panels but the 2022 RC200 continues with an LCD meter console. This may be because the other two are more global models and RC200 goes to select markets.

Another major change is the hike in the fuel storage capacity. The puny 9.5 liter tank of the existing model has given way to a much larger 13.7 liters unit.

The chassis has also been tweaked and now utilizes a bolted sub-frame which replaces the welded unit we have on the existing model. With this and other revisions, the 200cc sports bike has dropped around 4 kilos of weight (1.5 kg is only because of the chassis).

Suspension duties are managed by 43mm WP APEX big piston forks at the front and WP APEX mono-shock at the rear. However, they are not adjustable like on the RC390.

Braking is controlled by a 320mm single disc on the front wheel supported by a four-piston radial caliper. On the rear wheel, you get a 230mm single disc with a single-piston floating caliper.

Though there must be tweaks to the 199.5cc single cylinder liquid cooled motor, they continue to produce the same 25.4 bhp of power and 19.5 Nm of maximum torque.
