Though there has been a power loss, 2020 Yamaha R15 BS6 price hike has been minimal and it also gets new features in the process…
Yamaha has officially launched the new updated 2020 R15 BS6 in India through a press release. It comes a month after it introduced its first BS6 motorcycles – the new FZ range (more details & price). There has been no design change in the new R15 but it does get a handful of extra features and new colours.
R15 BS6 continues with the same 155cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled, SOHC, 4-valve engine which is good for 18.6 PS of peak power at 10,000 rpm and 14.1 Nm of max torque at 8500 rpm. For reference, the R15 BS4 churned 19.3 PS and 14.7 Nm at the same engine rpms respectively. This means that the faired sportster has lost 0.7 PS and 0.6 Nm during this transition.

As you can see the price hike is very minimal – it ranges from Rs 4420 to Rs 5020 on the ex-showroom price.
Apart from this, the new R15 gets features like side-stand engine cut-off, dual horn and radial tyre at the rear. It has also received new colour themes – the racing blue gets blue coloured alloy wheels and the thunder grey now has much less of that red.
