Similar to the R25 and R3, Yamaha has created two different motorcycles MT25 and MT03 on the same platform. These are sold in markets depending on which one suits which market. Like for instance, the Jap thinks that the R3 is more suited for markets like ours.
In a latest update, Yamaha has officially launched the 2020 MT25 in the Malaysian market, revealing how will the updated model look like. It, surely, is a lot more aggressive in styling and gets a front headlamp similar to the MT15 family – with predator like DRLs along with a projector lamp. The fuel tank has also been changed to accommodate new air scoops.
The new MT25 continues with the same twin cylinder, liquid cooled, DOHC, 249 cc engine which produces 35.1 PS of peak power at 12,000 rpm and 22.6 Nm of max torque at 10,000 rpm.
2020 MT25 Price
The new MT25 has been priced at RM 21,500 which roughly translates to about 3.83 Lakh in INR. Yamaha also sells its faired sibling R25 in the country and it is the newer-gen model that is available there.
The new MT25 is offered in two color options in Malaysia -Ico Fluo and Yamaha Blu. Other features include digital LCD instrumentation, inverted front forks, dual channel ABS, LED side blinkers and tail lamp, etc. It will be available from this month onwards.
There have been reports that Yamaha may consider bringing the MT03 in India since the R3 was already sold here. However, now even the R3 has been discontinued since it does not adhere to the latest Bharat Stage 6 emission norms. Since the focus is on premium motorcycles, there are chances that the R3 will return in a new guise but there is nothing concrete on its street naked sibling yet.
