Get Ready for YEZDI – Coming this Diwali

Yezdi Indian launch will give Classic Legends another brand to put foot in this extremely competitive market. It is likely to debut with a scrambler…

Mahindra owned Classic Legends holds the right for not just the ‘Jawa’ brand that it resurrected first. It also has the ‘Yezdi’ and ‘BSA’ in its kitty. So, after debuting with the Jawa brand in 2019, Classic Legends is getting ready for phase 2 of its plan.

Spyshots of what appeared to be a Yezdi test mule surfaced on the internet few months back. These were the first hints backed by Ashish Joshi’s (CEO of the company) statements that the company is actually working on the resurrection of the second brand in the portfolio.

In a latest update, an online report claims that Classic Legends is targeting quarter 3 of this financial year for Yezdi’s launch. That means Yezdi may debut anytime between October to December 2021. An ideal time frame would be just ahead of the festive season to get the initial momentum.

Mahindra & Classic Legends Begin BSA Brand Operations

Classic Legends currently have three motorcycles on sale – the retro classic Jawa, slightly modern Forty Two in two variants and the most interesting Perak bobber. The interesting thing is that the first Yezdi, instead of overlapping these segments, is coming up in a new segment – of scrambler-styled motorcycles. This will prevent internal cannibalization and rope in new customers to the fold.

Another positive for the company is that Yezdi may attract customers slightly down the pecking order since it is expected to be priced cheaper than Jawa (no confirmation though). It is expected to share many parts with the existing Jawas including the engine.
