YZF-R15’s Sibling XSR 155 Launched: Cheaper than R15 & MT15

Yamaha XSR155 Indian launch a possibility considering the popularity of the R15 and MT15. We talk about its details…

Yamaha has officially unveiled a retro-styled motorcycle in Thailand called as XSR155. The all-new XSR155 is based on the brand’s ‘Sport Heritage’ line-up that consists of higher displacement retro motorcycles like XSR700 and XSR900. It is now an addition into the popular 155cc segment which consists of R15 v3.0 and MT-15.

The XSR155 gets old-school looks with circular headlamps and single piece flat saddle. Inside this retro styled small package, there are a lot more modern features like LED headlamp and tail lamp, retro-modern circular all-digital instrument console etc. The blue backlit console features tachometer, speedometer, odometer, trip-meter, fuel gauge and gear-position indicator.

Following the cockpit is a dual-tone fuel tank that also houses the ignition keyhole. The tan leather seat cover (on silver colour option only) with a ribbed pattern gives a perfect old-school persona.

Powering the motorcycle is the same R15 v3’s 155cc, liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine, that is mated to a 6-speed gearbox, which is further assisted by a slipper clutch as standard. Yamaha Thailand’s official website has not listed the power and torque figures of the baby XSR but we believe they wont be too shy off R15’s numbers – maximum power of 19.3 HP at 10,000 rpm and an utmost torque of 14.7 Nm at 8500 rpm.
