Yamaha MT15 Tracer would be a mild ADV if it is under works. The prospects of a low-cost ADV look brutal if you ask us…
Yamaha has had a terrific run with its R15 in India and it is a big seller in most parts of the world it retails in. Streetfighter MT15 based on the same platform, has recently started its journey and it is also doing fairly well. There are few other models based on similar platforms in Yamaha’s international line-up.

But the company may not be stopping at this as there are fresh rumours of a possible adventure version which could carry the company’s ‘Tracer’ nameplate. A web portal cxrider.com has shared a speculative rendering of how the motorcycle could look (featured image of this story).
As compared to MT15, this supposed MT15 Tracer gets a raised half fairing and a visor to prevent from wind blasts. They have not tinkered with the rest of the body. In addition, there are knuckle protectors on what looks like a slightly raised handlebar (for a comfortable seating posture of ADVs).
If there exists such a model, it will definitely share the same 155 cc VVA engine which, in its current tune on the roadster and faired motorcycle, produces 19.3 PS of peak power and 14.7 Nm of max torque. We have recently tested the streetfighter at Buddh International Circuit and you can read our review here.
We should be hearing something concrete from Yamaha on this soon, probably at this year’s EICMA if there is some substance in these rumours. Till then, let us wait and watch…
