Yamaha to Launch Maxi-Scooter – a Burgman Rival: Speculation

Yamaha Maxi-Scooter for India could be one from its international line-up or it could be styled from the scratch here…

Maxi-scooters are becoming popular among riders in India. To provide the same Yamaha may launch a scooter in this segment early next year according to a latest speculation. Yamaha’s Maxi-scooter will rival the Suzuki Burgman Street as well as the Aprilia SXR series..

Yamaha ditched the 100-110cc segment and moved to the 125cc segment in scooters. It already sells the Fascino and RayZR here. It is not known whether Yamaha’s Maxi-scooter will use the existing 125cc motor (and platform) or introduce a more worthy, slightly bigger engine for it.

However, expect the recently introduced HYBRID tech to percolate to it along with many other features.

Recently, Yamaha’s VP for Sales and Marketing Ravinder Singh cleared that the company will not bring any bigger motorcycle to India. And it will continue to explore the existing space in motorcycles and scooters.

Yamaha has five upcoming products in the pipeline which, we believe, are lined up for this year. We are not sure if this list includes the speculated Maxi-Scooter.

Yamaha has a scooter called as Nmax 125 which it sells in the international markets. It can bring one of them here or design one for our market from the scratch. Whatever is the end product, expect it to come at a premium pricing.
