Yamaha Aerox launch in India hasn’t looking any closer. Type approval document lists Indianized specs of the upcoming sports crossover scooter…
It is not the first time that you would be hearing about Yamaha’s Aerox sports scooter and its possible connect with India. Yamaha had already registered its trademark in India, around 2019. It had showcased the scoot at a few dealerships ‘to gauge interest’.
And this possibly is the biggest evidence clearing Yamaha’s intents. A recent type approval document from ICAT reveals that Yamaha has got an approval for its brand Aerox 155 for India. This document is dated 13th August 2021.
It lists the engine capacity as 155cc and power output as 11 KW (14.95 PS) at 8000 rpm. The scoot has a listed gross vehicle weight of 276 kilos along with a wheelbase of 1350 mm. Its other dimensions are 1980 mm (length), 1150 mm (height) and 700 mm (width).
It is well known that Aerox carries over the liquid cooled 155cc motor from the R15 but due to its different application, it produces slightly lesser power and it also comes earlier. Now, as compared to the Indonesian Aerox, the BS6 model that has been filed in India produces 0.3 KW (0.40 PS) of lesser power which has also been the case with R15.
