The upcoming Ola commercial electric scooter will be aimed at food delivery, e-commerce logistics and urban fleet operations among others
Ola Electric is all set to launch its first commercial e-scooter for the fleet operators in the Indian market. The Bengaluru-based brand received regulatory approval from Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) for homologation in Feb 2026 under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR). The upcoming Ola commercial electric scooter will be based on the existing S1 platorm while equipped with a 4 kWh motor and top speed of approx 70 kmph. In this piece, we will talk about the e-scooter in detail.
According to PTI, the company has tweaked its S1 platform for commercial purposes which includes food delivery, e-commerce logistics and urban fleet operations among others. Apparently, the e-scooter is being readied for a market launch during this quarter as all the approvals have been secured from the requisite regulatory bodies in the country.
The L1 category electric scooter will mark Ola’s entry in the commercial two-wheeler segment in India. Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for austerity measures while appealing to switch to electric mobility amid the ongoing fuel crisis due to the Iran-America war. Hence, this could also be one of the reasons behind Ola foraying into the commercial EV two-wheeler segment.

As per the filing certificate, Ola could roll out the new e-scooter with 2 kWh, 3 kWh and 4 kWh battery configurations. The S1X Gen 3 is available with all the battery packs mentioned before. Hence, the commerical electric scooter is also likely to offer range of at least 100 km on a single charge. It is likely to come with basic features and a simple design.
Another prominent reason for Ola to enter the commercial EV space is the shifting policy momentum. The recent announcement of phasing out ICE-powered two-wheelers from national capital in the next two years by Delhi government is one such move. Delhi’s draft EV Policy 2026 offers massive incentives on the purchase of electric two-wheelers for personal mobility as well as commercial usage while completely banning new registrations of petrol-powered scooters and motorcycles.

Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman of Ola Electric, earlier this week, said that rising fuel prices have led to higher demand for EVs from the gig ecosystem. He stressed on the fact that gig workers need EVs the most as their daily run is the highest which subsequently results in massive fuel costs. However, Aggarwal did not reference any upcoming commercial commercial electric scooter from Ola.
