Apart from the Tesseract, the Bigga factory will manufacture Ultraviolette’s future product portfolio across multiple motorcycle segments
Ultraviolette Automotive has announced plans to start the BIGGA (Big Global Ambition) factory in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. This new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility will be responsible for the production of the brand’s highly anticipated Tesseract electric scooter, which will go on sale from Q1 2027. The annual production capacity of the Bigga factory will be ramped up to 2.5 lakh electric two-wheelers in a phased manner. However, it has the requisite infrastructure to scale production to 5 lakh units per annum as demand grows.
Apart from the Tesseract, the Bigga factory will manufacture Ultraviolette’s future product portfolio across multiple motorcycle segments, including Sports, Crossover, Cruiser, and Street. The company will also launch its second model in the scooter segment in the next 12-15 months. The new facility in Hosur is expected to create approx 2,000 jobs in its initial phase, scaling further over the next five years, as the facility scales its operations.
The Government of Tamil Nadu will facilitate the allotment of land for the manufacturing facility in Hosur at SIPCOT Industrial Park, Shoolagiri. The Bigga factory is being designed as a future-ready manufacturing ecosystem, bringing together advanced digital systems, automation and quality engineering to create a highly scalable and agile production environment.
Built around Industry 4.0 manufacturing principles, the facility will deploy a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to enable real-time production track-and-trace, supported by digital lean manufacturing and digital quality systems. Advanced automation, including collaborative robots for sorting, welding and assembly, automated assembly fool-proofing and vision-based inspection systems, will be deployed across key manufacturing processes.
The Bigga factory will also have a specialised test track which will enable every vehicle to undergo rigorous evaluation before dispatch. It will operate in addition to Ultraviolette’s existing manufacturing facility in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Presently, the company retails a total of five high-performance electric motorcycles in the Indian market as well as various global markets.
